Biography
Thom Brooks is Professor of Law, Ethics and Government at Durham University and Principal of Collingwood College. His evidence and research were drawn on by the House of Lords Justice and Home Affairs Committee in its 2026 report Settlement, Citizenship and Integration inquiry. A Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and Academic Bencher of the Inner Temple, he served as Dean of Durham Law School from 2016 to 2021 and is the author or editor of more than 35 books, including Becoming British. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, he became a British citizen in 2011 and is a dual citizen of the United Kingdom and the United States. (Biography dated July 2026.)
